Cheepers the Chicken Birthday Card
Welcome My Crafty Friends,
Today I have a card that I did for our granddaughter's birthday. They have been raising chickens for a long time so I thought it would be fun to do a chicken card for her.
My card uses Karen Burniston's Square Spinner Pop Up die set along with a couple of her discontinued dies Cheeper the Chicken and the Chicken Wire die. Here is how I created the card.
Step 1 Form card base from white Soft Finish Cardstock 4-1/4" X 5-1/2"
Step 2 Cut 3 pcs. of patterned paper 4" X 5-1/4" (ModaScrap - Wood Effects used here) . Adhere 1 to card front ( NOTE: When and if you add patterned paper to the front you will need to run through machine several times with another piece of cardstock laid over it due to thickness) 1 to the right side inside card using Clear Double Sided Adhesive. The third piece is to be adhered to left side just on left edge of card base so chicken wire can be added after cutting opening.
Step 3 Die cut Chicken Wire from silver cardstock (Karen's die is discontinued but Darice and Spellbinders has similar dies).
Note: Karen Burniston has assembly video for this die which you can find here
Step 4 Watch Karen's video for how to cut window, create mechanism, etc.
Step 5 Die cut a chicken or any animal you wish (Karen Burniston's Cheepers used here but is discontinued). Add animal to large square inside card so it shows through window on front of card using Kids Choice Glue. Little props were cut from more of Karen's discontinued props such as hay, basket and eggs (sorry) but you can probably improvise.
Step 6 Add basket and eggs to spin out arm using Kids Choice Glue.
Step 7 Stamp sentiment on white cardstock with black ink. Using dimensional squares add sentiment to card front.
Step 8 From black cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive on back die cut Happy Birthday using Karen Burniston's Word Set 2 and cut numbers using Joset's Blackboard Numbers.
I do hope you have enjoyed my little tutorial to day and that it has inspired you to make your own Spinner Square Pop Up card there are so many possibilities with this die set.
Until next time - Happy Crafting!
Christine
