Poppy Hugs

Poppy Hugs

Hello My Crafty Friends,

I do hope you are all staying safe and healthy.  We are staying home as much as possible only going to grocery store as needed.   Boy I cannot wait until hubby can take this job back I am not a fan of grocery shopping.  We are both in that bracket of being higher risk due to health and age he is 78 and I am 70.   Let ‘s hope that this is all over soon so we can get back to some kind of normalcy.

During my time at home I have been making some flowers and creating cards.  Today’s card is featuring the poppy and daisy.  Perfect timing on my part as I see Susan is doing a live today and one of the things she is demonstrating is the poppy so I will link that as soon as it is available.  Susan’s link came be found here for both the poppy and daisy.

Sadly I have several sympathy cards to make none being due to the virus thank goodness.

Exciting news from Susan Tierney-Cockburn she is going with Spellbinders and will have a new release of dies and tools this fall.  I am so excited as I love working with Susan’s dies as they make the most realistic looking paper flowers.

Here is how I created today’s card.

Step 1  6″ X 6″ card base

Step 2  Cut 5-3/4″ square water color paper and create a background using Distress Oxide Inks in colors of your choice.    Once dry adhere to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step 3  Sentiment was cut from black cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on back.  Suzanne Cannon’s A Way With Words – Sending Hugs die set was used here. Adhere to lower left of card front.  Most of the time I add sentiment last but in this case space was an isssue so to make sure everything fit I added first.

Step 4 Cut 2 Garden Notes Canning Jar from clear sticker paper.  A blue color alcohol marker was used to cut front of one jar for the water although it is hard to see with the background.  Adhere second jar over jar that you have colored so color will be locked in between.  Add stems to jar down through jar opening stems will stick to jar to hold in place.  Add small pieces to back of stems so they are hidden by stems then adhere jar to lower right of card front.

Step 5  Create 2 poppies and 1 bud using Garden Notes Poppy 2 die set.  Mine were cut from white Soft Finish Cardstock then colored with Copics Alcohol Markers R29 & R08.  Create 1 Daisy and 1 Bud using Garden Note Shasta Daisy.  Adhere flowers to top of jar using Kids Choice Glue.

Step 6 Add Twine bow at neck of jar attaching with a dot of Kids Choice Glue.

Thanks for stopping by today hope it has been inspirational and you create your own paper bouquet.  Until next time – Happy Crafting!

Christine
