josetrel252018

Hello My Crafty Friends!

Here is a second card I did using one of Joset’s new releases the Backyard Barbecue and Lanterns.  I had just seen the Impossible Card and when I saw the BBQ set and the Lanterns I knew I had to make this card.

Step 1  For how to video on making the card base go to this LINK

Step 2  Cut off white cardstock 3-1/2″ X 4-1/4″ emboss with “Brick” embossing folder.  Using Clear Double Sided Adhesive adhere to center pop up section.

Step 3  Die cut all pieces you wish to use on your card using Joset’s newly released Backyard Barbecue and Lanterns die sets.  For picnic table use 1/4″ strips of brown cardstock.  Using Clear Double Sided Adhesive build your card scene.

Step 4  Using A Way With Words – 4 Seasons die set cut Summer 1 from green cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on back and 1 from off white cardstock.  Adhere green on top of off white off setting a bit to give shadow effect.

I do hope you have enjoyed.  Thank you for stopping by.

ECD Design Team Focus on New Releases for Joset

josetrel152018

Hello My Crafty Friends,

Today the ECD Design Team is focusing on Joset’s new releases now available at Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I have chosen to use her new Stitched Hexagons.

Here is how I made the card.

Step 1  Cut 1 set of Garden Notes – Leafy Berry Branch from green cardstock.  Lay right side down on Molding Mat using medium ball tool from Susan’s Garden 4 pc. All Metal Tool Kit rub back of each leaf.  Using Nuvo Crystal Drops add berries set aside to dry.

Step 2  Form 6 X 6 tent fold card from white cardstock.  Using Joset’s largest Stitched Hexagon die lay onto card base with top cutting edge just above fold then die cut. (see photos)

Step 3  Using largest Hexagon die and patterned paper cut 1 hexagon.  Adhere to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step 4    Using 2 largest hexagon dies cut frame from white Soft Finish Cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on back.  (see photo)  Adhere to card front.

Step 5  From White Soft Finish Cardstock using Garden Notes – Primrose 1 cut nine flowers.  Color with alcohol markers. (Note: you can use colored cardstock if you are not into coloring.)  To shape and assemble see Susan’s video found at this LINK.

Step 6  Cut white Soft Finish Cardstock 1″ X 6″ round corners stamp with sentiment.  This sentiment is from set – Little Words That Mean A Lot.  Adhere to lower portion of card using dimensional tape.

Step 7  Arrange your flowers and berry branches on card front using Kids Choice Glue.

Our challenge this month is to use the Scissor Spring Mechanisms by Becky.  My card that I chose to do is an open box card that my friend just taught me I felt it was just perfect for these mechanisms.  I have taken lots of pictures to help with making card.

Here is how it was created.

Step 1  Cut white 100# Soft Finish Cardstock to 8-1/2″ X 10″.  With soft finish side down score the 10″ side at 2″; 3-1/2″; 6-1/2″ & 8″.  Turn and score on 8-1/2″ side at 1-1/2″ & 7″.

IMG_6196scissormech5

Fold on all score lines using a bone folder to make nice sharp creases.  Make cuts on all 4 corners per sketch – on 10″ sides cut on score lines to 3-1/2″ on 8-1/2″ side cut only to first score line removing corners.  IMG_6194scissormech4

You should have 3″ in center of 8-1/2″ side make a little mark at 1-1/2″ on each end.  Score on diagonal from mark down to score line on each side of marks see picture.

IMG_6206scissormech11

Crease well on these lines – they should be mountain folds.

Step 2  Now decorate your card before assembling. Using patterned paper decorate your card – cut 2 pcs.  3″ X 5-1/4″ – 1 for inside and 1 for back (which will be adhered after mechanism is in place) adhere using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.  For the 2 outer flaps they should be 2″ X 5-1/4″ but depending on score lines they may vary so should measure before cutting for best results.

Step 3  Decide where you want your mechanism on card . Place tiny die for slit on card base run through die cutting machine.   Using smallest Scissor Spring Mechanism die cut 1 set assemble.  place tabs from 1 end through slit you just cut spread tabs open adhere using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.  Adhere patterned paper to card back covering tabs.

Step 4  Using Kristen Schneider Patchwork Stamp and Die sets cut 4 bees from white Soft Finish Cardstock.  Color using markers.  Using bee die cut out bees.  On 2 of bees snip around wings to body keeping them attached but making them so wings will bend up.  Use a glitter pen to add sparkle to wing.  Attach one be on top solid bee just on body part of bee using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.  Add bee to mechanism using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step 5  Using Joset’s Words 2 – Thinking of You die set from black cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on back “Just” and “You” .  Adhere “Just” above the Bee and “You” below the bee.

Step 6  Add Clear Double Sided Adhesive to 4 corner flaps.  Dry fit by folding up to form box if you find that trimming is required to make flush with back of card do this before adhering.

IMG_6211scissormech10

Bring flaps around and adhere to sides forming box.  Gently push in top & bottom ends on fold lines so it closes flat – crease well.

Step 7  Cut strip of matching cardstock 1″ X 9″.  Wrap around center of card overlap in front.  Adjust to fit so that it is loose enough so will slide on and off but still hold card closed.  Trim off extra and adhere closed with Clear Double Sided Adhesive.  Adhere bee to band covering the overlap using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Optional Closure – use a small magnet as closure.  Adhere magnet to front left flap using Clear Double Sided Adhesive adhere one end of band to front over magnet wrap band around back  to front adjust length.  Add a die cut with a sentiment to free end of band and add magnet to back of die cut so it lines up with bottom magnet. This was done because I had a spot on flap which band covered but when band was taken off to open card you saw a big spot – there is always a fix for these boo boos.

I do hope you have enjoyed this tutorial today I know it is long but hope it is inspiring and you will make your own open box card.

Week 14 Christmas Card Challenge – Snowy Trees

IMG_6213snowytrees1

Hello my crafty friends!

Well this is week 14 of a Christmas Card Challenge I am in with Card Making Tips group on Facebook.  With this post I am caught up with posting my cards so you will only see 1 Christmas card post from me a week for now.  This weeks challenge is Snowy Trees – not decorated.  Elizabeth Craft Designs had the perfect die set for this plus their new Happy Frame which I am loving.

Here is a quick tutorial on how I made this card.

Step 1  Using Becky Seddon’s Reindeer Die Set cut 9 or 10 trees from dark green cardstock and 3 snow mounds from white cardstock.  Using a pallet knife add Snow Accents to snow mounds and trees set aside to dry.   Note: With this snow be careful on snow mounds to keep away from each end and the bottom  edge as the frame will not lay flat against card and adhere.

Step 2    Using ModaScraps Happy Frame Die Set cut 4 pieces to make frame from navy cardstock.  Crease all fold lines using bone folder.  Cut to 6″ cutting on straight end of all 4 pieces and emboss using embossing folder of your choice (dotted swiss used here).   Els has a video showing how to make frame.

Step 3    Form a 6″ square card base from white Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step 4   Cut medium blue cardstock 5-3/4″ square emboss with embossing folder of choice.  Sand lightly to let white come through to look like falling snow.  Adhere to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step 5  Build scene on card front adhering snow mounds using Clear Double Sided Adhesive on lower portions of the snow mounds.  Add trees using Kids Choice Glue on lower portion of trees tucking them between the snow mounds cutting some to make different heights and cutting half off for sides.

Step 6  Add Frame using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step 7  Using   A Way With Words – Let It Snow Die Set cut Let It Snow one from black cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on back and once from White Soft Finish Cardstock.  Adhere black on top of white offsetting just enough to give it a shadow.  Adhere words to lower portion of frame using Kids Choice Glue.

I do hope you have enjoyed this quick tutorial and will create your own version.  If you would like to purchase any of the Elizabeth Craft Designs products I have used just click on picture below it will take you right there.

Thanks for stopping by today and until next time – Happy Crafting!
