Forever Friends Lilac

Welcome My Crafty Friends,

Today I am posting another “Forever Friends” card.  Last month I posted a card I had made for my dear friend of over 50 years it had bachelor buttons on it well she showed it to a friend where she lives and the friend wanted a couple of cards one of which was just like hers and another one so here it is.  I chose to use Susan’s Garden Notes Lilac 2 die set.

Here is how it was created.

Step 1  From green cardstock cut Garden Notes Leafy Branch.  Using Nuvo Crystal Drops – Simply White add berries to branch set aside to dry then repeat on back.

Step 2  Form 6″ X 6″ card base from white cardstock.

Step 3  Cut patterned paper 5-3/4″ X 5-3/4″ patterned paper (ModaScrap Fly & Scrap used here).  Adhere to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step 4  From black cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on back cut Forever Friends using A Way With Words dies Forever and Friends.  Adhere to card front putting Forever to top left of card and Friends to lower right of card.

Step 5  Cut Garden Notes Ostrich Fern from green cardstock.  shade with ink shape by pinching up on fronds.   Using Kids Choice Glue on stem area only adhere to center of card.

Step 6  Add berry branch over fern using Kids Choice Glue.

Step 7  Make lilacs using Garden Notes Lilac 2 set.  You either cut flowers from white Soft Finish Cardstock and color with alcohol markers, cut from colored cardstock or as I have done colored cardstock first by lightly brushing marker over some areas darker in others then cut which gives variation in color.    My lilacs are really much more purple it is the picture.  Susan has a video on how to make the lilac on her Facebook page Susan’s Garden Club.  You can find it at this LINK.   These are built right on your card.

Here is both cards.

Welcome My Crafty Friends!  Spring has arrived finally and I believe we are all happy about that at least I know I am.

Sadly we are all touched by “Cancer” at some point in our lives some more than others.  I know my family and friends have been touched many times.  Today my card is for a friend that has just recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Here is how I created my card.

Step 1  Cut 2 Garden Notes Berry Branch from brown cardstock.  Using pink Nuvou crystal drops make berries on branches.   Do 1 side let dry then do back side and let dry.  I do both sides like Susan does but it is optional.

Step 2  Form 6″ X 6″ card base from white cardstock.  Emboss card front with embossing folder of your choice.

Step 3  From white Soft Finish Cardstock cut 3 Garden Notes Round Grapevine Wreaths.  Using Kids Choice Glue just dab around center area on back of wreath (no glue on the little branches) attach 1 wreath at a time to card front giving each wreath a quarter turn to off set each wreath.  Once dry pull up on some of the branches to give it fullness.

Step 4  Using Garden Notes Lilac 2 and 85# white Soft Finish Cardstock color front and back of a piece large enough to cut flower plates 2-3 times each.  Just kind of scribble you want little areas of white and varying shades.   Shape and build your lilacs   Here is Susan’s video for making lilacs.

Step 5  Cut 3 pink tulips and 2 white tulips using Garden Notes Tulip 2 die set. Shape and build tulips.  Susan’s video below for making tulips.

Step 6  From green cardstock cut 1 set of Garden Notes Ladder Fern.

Step 7  Using Suzanne Cannon’s Courage die  to cut from white Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive on top twice and once from cardstock with adhesive on top and bottom (this will be the bottom of the stack).  Cut once from pink glitter cardstock.  Cut ribbon from Suzanne Cannon’s Hope die set 3 times from white Soft Finish Cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on top then once from pink glitter cardstck.  Stack together.  You are making 3 pink ribbons and 1 Courage.

Step 8  Assemble using Kids Choice Glue starting with ferns.  Ferns, berries, lilacs, tulips then leaves.  Add courage to bottom under wreath and use pop dots to add ribbons.

Hope you have enjoyed my tutorial today.  By clicking on any of the product pictures below it will take you directly to Elizabeth Craft Designs site.

Until next time – Happy Crafting!

Birthday Lilacs

2018-01-18 Birthday Lilacs

Hello my crafty friends.  I don’t know about you but I am so wanting spring to come but I know here in Maine we have a while to go so I am creating my own spring by making Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s paper flowers.  My post today uses her new release Garden Notes Lilac 2 along with and her Garden Notes Ladder Fern from previous release.  I have also used ModaScrap’s new release Romantic Bouquet. The “happy birthday” is from an older release of A Way With Words by Suzanne Cannon and all can be purchased from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Here is how the card was created.

Step 1  Make card base by cutting white cardstock 6″ X 12″ score at 6″ fold on score line.

Step 2  Emboss card front using a large embossing folder.

Step 3  Using white Soft Finish Cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on top die cut ModaScrap – Romantic Bouquet and A Way With Words happy birthday.  Also cut happy birthday from black cardstock  with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the back.

Step 4 using Silk Microfine Glitter – (Sea Glass used here) coat the Romantic Bouquet and the white happy birthday and burnish in.  Attach the Romantic Bouquet to bottom of card front using Kids Choice Glue.  Attach the happy birthday to the black happy birthday offsetting just a bit to give appearance of a shadow using Kids Choice Glue.

Step 5  Cut 1 set of Garden Notes Ladder Fern from green cardstock shade with Distress Inks and shape by laying fern on Leaf Pad. Take leaf tool from Susan’s Garden 4 pc. all metal tool kit pull tool down center stem and each frond.  Using tweezers from tool kit hold center stem in tweezers and pinch up on fronds.

Step 6  Make 3 flowers and several leaves using Susan’s new Garden Notes Lilac 2 die set using White Soft Finish Cardstock green cardstock for leaves and brown for the stem.  For the purple lilac a couple shades of purple Distress Ink was used on white Soft Finish Cardstock then die cut.  Susan has a video on her Facebook page Susan’s Garden Club which you can see here.

Step 7 Arrange on card front using Kids Choice Glue to attach.

Hope you have enjoyed my post today and that it has inspired you to create your own.

Spring Bouquet

2017-05-20 Spring Bouquet

Hello and thank you for stopping by my blog today!

Here in Maine things are starting to bloom my lilac trees are getting ready to burst with color and fragrance like none other.   The lilacs do not show the true color in this picture I tried taking several different pictures in different light but could not get the true color to show.

Today I am posting a card which has a bouquet of spring flowers hence the name of the card.  Susan’s Garden Notes dies were used for the flowers along with her Pottery Pitcher die.  The finish on the pitcher is a result of a botched cracked glass technique but I decided when all was said and done it looked like a very old pitcher and that I liked the look so I used it.

Here is how this  6 X6  tent fold card was done.

  1.  Cut White Soft Finish Cardstock 6″ X 12″ score at 6″ fold on score line.  Cut patterned paper (Through the Lens – Wood used here) at 5-3/4″ square then attach to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.
  2. From White Soft Finish Cardstock cut 2 ModaScrap Lace Corners.  Attach to bottom corners using Clear Double Sided Adhesive overlapping at the center.
  3. From grayish tan cardstock cut 1 Garden Notes Pottery Pitcher –  ink edges.  Lay face down on molding mat using large ball tool from Susan’s Garden Tool Set rub back of pitcher giving it a little shape.  As I said the finish was a botched Cracked Glass Technique.  You can google that technique.  I believe I got mine too thick some fell off the remainder was reheated and bubbled giving this texture.  Ink over all of it (Distress Vintage Photo used here).
  4. Make 2 Garden Notes Lilac branches.  These were made using White Soft Finish Cardstock  colored with lavender and dark purple Susan’s Garden PanPastels Set 1 & 2 before cutting flowers.
  5. Make 1 Garden Notes Daffodil
  6. Make 2 Garden Notes Tulip 2 in colors of your choice ( 1 white and 1 peach used here).
  7. Pussy willows were made by using Els van de Burgt Studio Leaf & Berry Branch and brown cardstock cutting 5-6 branches.  Snip off the leaves so you basically have sticks then using Kids Choice Glue add dots of glue  to top half of each stick  sprinkle white Flower Soft over glue then gently press Flower Soft into glue then repeat.
  8. Arrange flowers to your liking  then attach to back of pitcher using Kids Choice Glue (I put the stems down through the opening at top of pitcher).
  9. Attach pitcher to card front using Kids Choice Glue that is just on the very edge of the pitcher.
