Poppy Hugs

Poppy Hugs

Hello My Crafty Friends,

I do hope you are all staying safe and healthy.  We are staying home as much as possible only going to grocery store as needed.   Boy I cannot wait until hubby can take this job back I am not a fan of grocery shopping.  We are both in that bracket of being higher risk due to health and age he is 78 and I am 70.   Let ‘s hope that this is all over soon so we can get back to some kind of normalcy.

During my time at home I have been making some flowers and creating cards.  Today’s card is featuring the poppy and daisy.  Perfect timing on my part as I see Susan is doing a live today and one of the things she is demonstrating is the poppy so I will link that as soon as it is available.  Susan’s link came be found here for both the poppy and daisy.

Sadly I have several sympathy cards to make none being due to the virus thank goodness.

Exciting news from Susan Tierney-Cockburn she is going with Spellbinders and will have a new release of dies and tools this fall.  I am so excited as I love working with Susan’s dies as they make the most realistic looking paper flowers.

Here is how I created today’s card.

Step 1  6″ X 6″ card base

Step 2  Cut 5-3/4″ square water color paper and create a background using Distress Oxide Inks in colors of your choice.    Once dry adhere to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step 3  Sentiment was cut from black cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on back.  Suzanne Cannon’s A Way With Words – Sending Hugs die set was used here. Adhere to lower left of card front.  Most of the time I add sentiment last but in this case space was an isssue so to make sure everything fit I added first.

Step 4 Cut 2 Garden Notes Canning Jar from clear sticker paper.  A blue color alcohol marker was used to cut front of one jar for the water although it is hard to see with the background.  Adhere second jar over jar that you have colored so color will be locked in between.  Add stems to jar down through jar opening stems will stick to jar to hold in place.  Add small pieces to back of stems so they are hidden by stems then adhere jar to lower right of card front.

Step 5  Create 2 poppies and 1 bud using Garden Notes Poppy 2 die set.  Mine were cut from white Soft Finish Cardstock then colored with Copics Alcohol Markers R29 & R08.  Create 1 Daisy and 1 Bud using Garden Note Shasta Daisy.  Adhere flowers to top of jar using Kids Choice Glue.

Step 6 Add Twine bow at neck of jar attaching with a dot of Kids Choice Glue.

Thanks for stopping by today hope it has been inspirational and you create your own paper bouquet.  Until next time – Happy Crafting!

Echinacea Hugs

Echinaceahugs

Hello my crafty friends,

Having such fun with Susan’s new dies and Tonic products.  Today I have used Susan’s Garden Club dies Echinacea, Japanese Painted Fern and Ladybug & Stems.  I played with the two colors that I have of Nuvo Mica Mist for a background.

Card base is 6″ X 6″ using black cardstock cut 6″ X 12″ scored at 6″ fold to form card.

Added 5-3/4″ square Pearlescent Cardstock – Ivory Sheen using Nuvo Tape Runner

Using 5-1/2″ square of black cardstock put into a cardboard box (to protect area from over spray) spray Pecan Peach Mica Mist let dry (it dries quickly) then spray Nuvo Wild Olive.  Once dry adhere to card front using Nuvo Tape Runner.

Using Susan’s Garden Club Echinacea die cut 5 sets from white cardstock. Using Copic markers color flowers I did 3 in orange and 2 in yellow. Shape and put together using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  Cut florets from brown card stock using a toothpick cup each then adhere to center of flower.  Use a little liquid adhesive dab center then sprinkle with a little pollen ( I mixed brown and reddish orange together).  Cut several leaves from green cardstock shade with green ink and shape.

Cut 1 set of Susan’s Garden Club Japanese Painted Fern from green cardstock shade with green ink I did not color as a painted fern I just used as a regular fern.  Shape then using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive  adhere ferns to right side of card front.

Arrange flowers on card front once placed where you want them adhere using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  Add leaves.

Cut Ladybug from white cardstock using Susan’s Garden Club Ladybug & Stems set, color with alcohol markers shape with small ball tool adhere to one of the leaves.

Die cut 1 diamond from black cardstock and 1 next size down from Pearlescent cardstock.  Stamp sentiment attach the two together using Nuvo Tape Runner and then adhere to left side of card front.  Add self adhesive black gems to each corner.  You could also use black Nuvo Crystal Drops but I did not have them.

I do hope you have enjoyed my card today and hope that it has inspired you.  Susan’s dies are available at the moment from only Create & Craft but after 30 days will be available through Tonic Studios – UK and January they will be available in USA.

Products are linked below just click on any one of them and it will take you to Tonic Studios USA.

Thank you for stopping by today and until next time – Happy Crafting!

Sunflower Hugs

sunflowerhugs1

Welcome my crafty friends!

Today I have a card I created using Susan’s Garden Notes Canning Jar & Lid, Garden Notes Sunflower 2, Garden Notes Lavender along with Suzanne Cannon’s Sending Hugs Kisses die set.  ModaScrap – Wood Series patterned paper was also used.

Here is how card was created.

Step 1  Form 6″ X 6″ card base.

Step 2  Cut ModaScrap –  Wood pattern paper 5-3/4″ square.  Adhere to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step 3  Using Garden Notes Lavender die set cut 1 stem from green cardstock shade with Distress Ink.  Cut plate of florets 10-16 times from yellow cardstock.  Place right side up on hard rubber pad / art eraser using toothpick cup each floret.  Using Kids Choice Glue attach florets to stem base forming Goldenrod.

Step 4  Die cut Garden Notes Canning Jar twice from clear sticker paper.  Using Copic Markers color 1 jar first using Y13 color whole thing.  Then use E39 color leaving a small yellow area in center then add E29 coloring around edges.  You want the jar to have that amber color.  Adhere the clear jar over top of jar you just colored sandwiching color between the jars.

Step 5  Die cut 2 Garden Notes Sunflower 2 from white Soft Finish Cardstock color using Copic Markers.  Cut leaves from green cardstock shade using Distress Ink.  Die cut center florets from 2 shades of brown cardstock.  Using Loop Tool from Garden Notes All Metal Tool Kit and Garden Notes Molding Mat shape flowers.  Using Leaf Tool and Leaf Pad shape leaves use bright green PanPastels from Set 1 to highlight stem line down center of leaf.  Place florets on art eraser use tooth pick to cup each floret.

Step 6  Place stems of goldenrod down through top opening of canning jar.  Add thin strip of dimensional tape to back of stems. Adhere jar to left side of card front.

Step 7   Build sunflowers on top of jar using Kids Choice Glue.  Let dry then add Brown Pollen to flower centers.

Step 8  From white Soft Finish Cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on back using Suzanne Cannon’s Sending Hugs Kisses die set cut Sending and Hugs twice.  Adhere 1 on top of other then adhere to card front.
