With Sympathy Flame Lily

Sympathy Flame Lily

Hello my crafty friends – Welcome!

Still snow here in Maine so no outdoor gardening so I get to do more paper gardening which I love.  As I get older I am finding I enjoy the paper gardening more than outdoor as it is easier on my back.

My card today uses Susan’s new Garden Notes Flame Lily again along with great fillers Garden Notes Feverfew 1 and Maidenhair Fern.

Here is how card was created.

Step 1  From white  110# Soft Finish Cardstock form 6″ x 6″ card base.

Step 2  Cut patterned paper 5-3/4″ square ( ModaScrap Wood Effects used here).  Adhere to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step 3  Cut frame from green cardstock using 2 largest dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Hexagons.  Line dies up making sure they are even all around use removable tape to hold together while die cutting.  Using Clear Double Sided Adhesive adhere frame to card front 1/4″ down from top.

Step 4  From white Soft Finish Card cut 1 Stitched Hexagon using next to largest die.  Adhere in center of frame.

Step 5  Cut 4 branches of Garden Notes Feverfew 1 color shape and assemble.

Step 6  Cut 2 sets of Garden Notes Maidenhair Fern from green cardstock shade and shape.

Step 7  From white 110# Soft Finish Cardstock cut 3 Garden Notes Flame Lilies then cut leaves from green cardstock.  Color, shape and assemble.  Susan has great videos for creating her flowers on her Facebook page Susan’s Garden Club

Step 7 From white Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive on back cut “With Sympathy” using Words 4 – Remember die set.  Adhere to bottom of card front.

 ***************

Here is how it was done.

  1. Using Els van de Burgt Studio Berry Branches cut 4 branches from brown cardstock.  Double branches using kids choice glue for added thickness.  Add berries using either Nuvo Crystal Drops or Red Pearl Pen (which was used here).  Set aside to dry.
  2. Form 6′ X 6″ card base from white Soft Finish Cardstock.
  3. Cut patterned paper 5-3/4″ X 5-3/4″  (ModaScrap “Cucina With Love Collection” used here).  Attach to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.
  4. Cut burlap paper 5-1/4″ X 5-1/4″  fray edges on all 4 sides.  Attach to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.  2017-10-30 Floral Thanks 2
  5. Using Susan’s Garden Black-Eyed Susan Die Set and white Soft Finish Cardstock cut 5 sets flower petals, black cardstock cut plate of seeds for 5 flowers and from green cardstock cut leaves.  Color, shade, shape and assemble.  Watch Susan’s video for guidance which can be found here.
  6. Using Susan’s new Maiden Hair and Ostrich Fern Dies cut 2 each from green cardstock (I used 2 different shades of green).  Using Distress Ink shade ferns.  Lay right side down on molding mat using medium ball tool from Susan’s Tool Kit rub back of Maiden Hair Fern fronds turn over run tool down stem for the Ostrich Fern use tweezers from tool kit to pinch up each frond then run medium ball down stem giving ferns some dimension.
  7. Arrange ferns, flowers and berry branches on front of card when they are where you want them attach using Kids Choice Glue.  You may not use all the ferns or you may cut some apart whatever appeals to you.  Berry branches I did cut apart and tucked in where I wanted.
  8. Using Els van de Burgt Studio Thanks die cut 3 from black cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the back.  Stack together ( gives nice dimension) attach to upper right of card front.

Hope that you have enjoyed this tutorial today and do remember to go

Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog to enter for a chance to win in a prize.  If you are interested in any of the products used today you can click on any of the pictures and they will take you to Elizabeth Craft Designs.
